Apartment Review for Sandpiper Apartments - Birmingham, AL

One of my great friends lived at this apt. At first sight of pulling up I notice all the people hanging out drinking and kids in the street looking at you like you are stupid if you honk your horn for them to get outta the road. I thought maybe they look better on the inside than out.. I WAS WRONG. Rats, roaches and not to mention the odd smell in the hallway. And management sucks anytime she needed something done someone came up with an excuse about why they shouldnt fix it. The security guard walks around at night with his gun and big dog, he walks up on my car late one night when I was stopping by to hang out and just stands behind my car, I then tell him that his best bet security or not is to not walk up on me with his gun in plain view and with a big dog cause next time im coming outta my car with my gun because I didnt know who was and all I see is this guy in my rear view at 1 in the morning. Then one day there are some white children playing in the pool and a little black boy comes over to swim and he looks at the little boy and was like what are you doing you should probably go back home so then my very tall very large black man friend whom he didnt know was watching him stepped in and asked him why and he was like oh I thought he may feel uncomfortable here. Then on another occassion i pulled up and there were lots of little black boys in the pool and they told them that the pool was closed for the evening and they had to leave, it was about 6:30 in the evening then at 7:00 that evening i walk to my car to leave and i see them all in the pool with their buddies drinking and partying. And on several other occasions I saw them making kids leave the pool so that they and their friends and family could have it all to themselves. But a month or so after that my friends apt burned along with some other units and i thought well her apt that they move her to can't get any worse than the one she had... I was wrong, there were more roaches and a mattress in the middle of the floor that looked like it had been pissed on more time than a toilet seat and there were no screens on any windows or the doors, there was so much roach powder at the front door that it looked like it had snowed in july. Panel boxes with exposed wires were showing and she has small children. Someone needs to get rid of these apts and its management, security included. Just a disgusting place, dont be fooled by these people.
