Apartment Review for Brookstone Apartment Homes - Birmingham, AL

When me and my wife first moved here, there were no problems. Everything was great. It all started with the Air Conditioner and when we moved into another unit. We had no AC. We called the management and they said they would send someone out. Two days went by; nothing. I went to the office and told the management again. She reported it to maintenance and they finally came out. We moved to another unit after "the apartment was ready". This was in January. The poeple that lived here before us ran up a $460 electric bill with Alabama Power that the managment told us we would have to pay in order to get our electric turned on. After my wife going crazy angry, they finally sent the Alabama power guy back out at 6:00 at night to turn on our power. Since January, we have had our apartment flood twice, roaches in the kitchen and our 15 month old boy's bedroom, mice in the kitchen, Sewage draining out behind our apartment, a leaking shower with a hole in the floor(reported to management 4 times), blown lights in the kitchen (reported 3 times), Dry ice contanstly coating the AC unit, and NOW a broken hot water heater that leaks all over the carpet. My wife was assaulted by another resident and they allowed him to stay, even after we filed charges against him. Their is constant drug deals right in front of kids also. If all of this stuff was fixed, no problem. But the management gets paid just to sit and say they are putting a work order in when all they do is sit on the computer and play solitare. Do not move here even if a new company has taken over. It will take at least another 2 years to get this apartment complex in living condition, if it still has a chance. You will be wasting your money. Everything is good at first and then it goes down hill after a while. Forunate for me I am in the US military and they will help with anything I need, but if basic living standards are hard to get from an apartment complex, then they all should be fired and all of the residents should get recompensated.
